So I know what you’re thinking. “Strawberries aren’t keto-friendly.” True. But this Low Carb, Keto Strawberry Serrano Margaritas recipe uses only ONE large strawberry, resulting in two margaritas with only THREE net carbs each.

That being said, many of those following a strict keto diet say alcohol is a no-go on the Keto diet. There are so many different opinions on Keto, but please do be aware that if you’re trying to lose weight, most recommend you don’t consume alcohol during that time because it can cause stalls. Others consume it with no issues, so it’s really depends on the individual.

Me? I want my margaritas, and I’m okay with it slowing down my weight loss a bit.

If you like spicy, you’ll love these Low Carb, Keto Strawberry Serrano Margaritas. Just one serrano pepper is plenty to give them a little kick. Use two if you’re brave. 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 large strawberry washed, dried and top removed
  • 1 medium serrano pepper washed, dried and sliced
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. granulated erythritol
  • 1/4 c. fresh lime juice
  • 3 oz. tequila separated
  • kosher salt
  • ice
  • optional garnishes: whole strawberries lime slices or wedges

Instructions

  • Muddle strawberry with a mortar and pestle or puree in a small food processor.
  • Bring the water to a boil and stir in granulated erythritol until dissolved.
  • Reduce heat, add strawberry puree, serrano pepper slices and lime juice, and simmer five minutes.
  • Allow to cool. This is important!
  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each large margarita glass and then dip into the kosher salt.
  • Fill glasses with ice. Add 1 1/2 ounces tequila to each glass and top with strawberry lime mixture.
  • Add a pinch of kosher salt to each glass and give a quick stir.
  • Garnish with whole strawberries, lime slices or wedges and/or additional serrano pepper slices.

Notes

To stretch the mixture and enjoy an extra cocktail, divide into four servings instead of two, and top with Strawberry Bubly.
Prep time does not include cooling time.
I use this electric citrus juicer or this 100% fresh lime juice.
