31 Aug Thirty Days of Whole30 Recipes – Day Four (A Setback)
It’s day four of our family’s Thirty Days of Whole30 Recipe. I’ve lost another pound, bringing the total to four in four days, and my skin is clearer than ever. The only downside is that my stomach issues have returned in full-force. I began the Thirty Days of Whole30 Receipes journey in order to find what’s been troubling my gut, not make it worse. As it turns out, I did just that…
Our Whole30 Breakfast – Eggs with a Side of Turkey Bacon and Grapes
I had time this morning to make breakfast, so I warmed some organic ghee (butter with the milk solids removed) and scrambled some eggs to perfection. We also found some bacon that is nitrate- and nitrite free, so I pan fried that in the ghee as well. I threw in a side of grapes, and voila! – a quick, pretty, satisfying Whole30 breakfast.
About two hours later, I finally realized what had been causing my stomach issues all along. The eggs. It was the eggs the whole time. Gah! How did I not realize this sooner? After a lot of research, I learned that I had developed a severe egg allergy. It started off mild and then grew worse over the span of a couple months until I just couldn’t stomach them at all anymore. Literally. I laid in bed with one of the worst stomach aches of my life (along with other horrendous symptoms over which I won’t go into detail) and promised myself I’d never eat eggs again. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to cook the rest of my Whole30 recipes today. Once I was finally able to eat again, I survived on Sprite and Club crackers for the rest of the day. My biggest challenge going forward is going to be coming up with egg-free Whole30 recipes for breakfast. I love eggs. Boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a salad. This is a sad day for me. Stay tuned tomorrow as I fumble around the kitchen to come up with some new ideas sans eggs.

Posted at 19:19h, 20 SeptemberI used to be able to find it on Amazon, but it’s out of stock. Here is a link to Pederson’s Whole30 Approved Bacon at The Simple Grocer. I haven’t purchased from this website, but the prices are reasonable, and they have kielbasa, sausage and Italian sausage which are all Whole30-approved. Score!
